Maximum residue limits (MRL) for sulfonamides have been established in many countries. In the European Union, USA and Canada, 100 μg/Kg of total sulfonamides was set as MRL in edible tissue and in milk, while the use of these antibiotics is unauthorised in eggs producing animals. No limits were fixed for honey.
In response to the increasing request of new screening methods for rapid detection of a number of sulfonamides toghether, Tecna R&D group developed and validated a new ELISA kit for qualitative detection of thirteen main sulfonamides in meat, honey, eggs and milk. A cut-off was set for each commodity in order to discriminate between blank and contaminated samples.
I’Screen SULFA QL is currently the only screening kit available on the market with such a wide cross-reactivity. For further informations, you can download the technical data sheets from the "Product" section of our website.
