AflaSTOPM1 pictureAflatoxin M1 is a toxic metabolite of aflatoxin B1. It is normally excreted in the urine and also the milk of dairy cattle and other lactating mammals.
Due to the high toxicity of aflatoxin M1, the European Community established
the maximum level of 0.05 ug/kg for aflatoxin M1 in liquid milk. This limit is also applicable to milk products which are dried or processed, taking into account the concentration caused by the drying process or by processing. By the other side, the Codex Alimentarius, Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) has established an acceptable level of risk at 0.5 ug/kg for aflatoxin M1 in fluid milk. U.S.A. limit is 0.5 ug/kg. Tecna is the only company who has becamed specialized in the manufacture of ELISA kit for the detection of aflatoxin M1 in dairy products. We have a full offer of kits for this analysis. I'screen AFLA M1, is an ELISA kits which allow the quantification of the toxin in milk and cheese. I'screen AFLA M1 milk version, is a new format of the previous products, which contains only the reagents for the milk analysis. AFLA M1 20-100, is an ELISA kit able to give both a semiquantitative and a quantitative result. For the semiquantitative analysis 2 controls are provided, one at 20 ppt an the other at 50 ppt. For the quantitative analysis, also the control at 100 ppt provided has to be used for the calibration curve.
